Inaugural Noble League Cup Announced for 2019-20 School Year
Noble League announces the introduction of the Noble League Cup, a trophy awarded to the campus with the highest comprehensive achievement in competitions involving athletics, fitness, the arts, and academics.
CHICAGO, IL - The Noble League announced that the inaugural Noble League Cup will take place during the 19-20 school year. The Noble League Cup is a prestigious trophy awarded to the campus with the highest comprehensive achievement in competitions involving athletics, academic, fitness, the arts, and school spirit.
The Cup, which all 17 Noble High School campuses will be eligible to compete in, will be awarded at the end of the school year to the campus that accrues the most points based on the Noble Cup point system. The point system is based on 40 different competitions that occur throughout the school year, including athletic, art, academic, school spirit and NobleFit competitions. Teams that win first place in each competition will receive 6 points towards the Cup, second place will receive 3 points, and third place/semifinalists will receive 3 points. Teams that compete in and are victorious in IHSA playoffs also receive 3-12 points, based on how far they advance in post-season play.
There will also be points awarded to teams who win the Noble League Sportsmanship award for their sport. Schools will be invited to submit their student section for the Student Section Award that will be awarded to the student section that shows the most pride.
Noble League's Director, Jason Ronai, explained why the decision was made to create a Noble League Cup. "It's important to provide recognition and significance to campuses for their comprehensive excellence in Noble League competitions. We believe in the power of passion-curriculars. The Noble League Cup is designed to empower and encourage whole-person excellence through the recognition of achievement in student-centered, passion programming. Additionally, research indicates that students involved in the Noble League have higher GPAs and attendance rates, so increasing participation in a balanced set of structured competitions supports academic achievement for students."
The addition of the Noble League Cup was approved by coaches, athletic directors, and Noble Schools administrators. "I am so proud of the achievements of our students in passion-curricular activities," said Constance Jones, Noble CEO. "Whether in sports or debate, on the field or on a stage - when students engage, they find their passion which leads to success in college and beyond. The launch of The Noble League Cup is the next step in recognizing and celebrating all the incredible work of our students in and outside of the classroom."
A primary goal of the Noble League cup is to add to the fun and pride of being part of a Noble campus. Ronai hopes that "students will empower and encourage one another as they accumulate Noble League Cup points, and perhaps they'll take great interest in diverse sports or competitions. The Cup will provide added incentive for all students as they prepare so diligently for competition."
